The Loop and Learn T1D Speakers series hosted the 3 founders of Digital Diabetes Analytics, all the way from Sweden.  It was a very interesting presentation, about their work to develop algorithms for machine learning, based on CGM data, for their current population in Sweden.  They are registered as a medical device operator with a CE-marked medical device, as of November 2020. They were chosen for the Microsoft for Startups program which offers coaching and technical expertise, in January 2021.

Lars Cederblad, CEO, Co-Founder, is an engineer and has been living with T1D since the age of 15. Co-Founders Dr. Daniel Espes, Chief Scientific Officer and Dr. Per-Ola Carlsson (Chief Clinical Officer) are physicians/researchers, who have devoted their careers to better understand the pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes and how to best treat the disease.

The Digital Data Analytics support system:

  • automatically analyzes all the data
  • uses data generated by continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)
  • generates interpretations of the underlying cause of glucose excursions
  • provides recommendations on how to optimize the treatment

Their vision is to become the leading supplier of digital decision support services and care that enables people with diabetes to live life to the fullest, be flexible and improve their glucose control.
