DIAVERSARY: day of diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes
MY DIAVERSARY: Monday, 25 January 1965, 53 years ago. Diagnosed in office of my pediatrician, Dr. Maxwell Stillerman, in his home office on Polo Road in Great Neck, NY. I hadn’t felt well enough to go to school … and in his study, he told my mother that I had diabetes mellitus, at 5:30pm. I remember it like it was yesterday!!! Here’s the house where I received the news.
My life from that moment forward changed!
I was told I wouldn’t live to the age of 40. Hah, I did!!!
Very blessed and filled with gratitude!!!
Ahh, heck you put some distance on me again. Just when I was catching up. Oh well on June 21, I will be at 44 years and I will gained on you once again. LOL
Happy diaversary.
Thanks Rick … as I am learning, we are all DiaBadasses! How well do you remember the day?
